Dr. Zhang’s laboratory focuses on applying multi-omics analysis (metabolomics, proteomics, and lipidomics) to understand host-microbe interactions and develop immunotherapies for cancer and inflammatory diseases. The research involves system immunology, oncology, and microbiology. Feel free to schedule a call or meeting with Dr. Mei Zhang for more information about this position.

 I. RESEARCH AND SCIENTIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct research in microbe-immune studies with a focus in multi-omics analysis.
  • Work on projects involving multi-omics analysis of fungal cells and skin immunity.
  • Utilize gene sequencing, metabolite analysis, and protein isolation and purification under PI’s guidance.
  • Present data at departmental seminars and scientific meetings, prepare manuscripts, and contribute preliminary data for grant proposals.
  • Additional managerial experience is an asset and will be looked upon favorably.

 II. TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Experience in gene sequencing, metabolite analysis, and protein isolation and purification is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in cell culture, flow cytometry, western blot, and RT-PCR is preferable.
  • Experience in bioinformatic analysis is highly desirable.
  • Experience with mouse models is highly desirable.

III. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise laboratory technicians, visiting scholars and student trainees in experimental design and data analysis.

IV. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • A Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, immunology, or a related field is required.
  • Prior post-doctoral research experience is preferred.
  • Experience in immunology and microbiology is highly desirable.
  • A background in microbiology, immunology, or bioinformatics is highly preferred.
