I. STATEMENT OF RESEARCH AND SCIENTIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
● A highly motivated and skilled researcher in neuroengineering and/or biophotonics, with experience and interest in neuromodulation therapies.
● Projects currently address significant challenges treating pain syndromes, neural injury, and neurodegeneration.
● The qualified candidate will utilize one or more of the following skills: computational modeling (light propagation in heterogenous media), electrophysiological stimulation and recording, preclinical assessment (small and/or large animals), administer clinical studies.
● As a postdoctoral scholar, the chosen candidate will present data at departmental seminars and scientific meetings, prepare manuscripts, contribute preliminary data for grant proposals, and support grant writing activities.
● Additional experience interacting with patients and physicians will be an asset and looked upon favorably.
● Additional managerial experience will be an asset and looked upon favorably.
II. TECHNICAL SKILLS

The chosen candidate will demonstrate competency in one or more (preferred) of the following technical skills:
- Experience in computational modeling using finite element methods and Monte Carlo methods is highly desirable.
- Experience with electrophysiology and associated instrumentation (amplifiers, filters, faraday cage, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Experience with clinical studies of neuromodulation techniques or therapies is highly desirable.
- Experience with mechanical / optical / electrical prototype design is preferred but not required.
- Experience in preclinical behavioral studies is preferred but not required.
III. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise laboratory technicians, visiting scholars and student trainees in experimental design and data analysis of a variety of projects.
IV. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, or a related field.
- A background in neuroengineering and/or biophotonics is highly preferred. - The successful candidate must have strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.
