I. STATEMENT OF RESEARCH AND SCIENTIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
● A highly motivated and skilled researcher in Biomedical Engineering with experience in Assay Development and Device Engineering
● Projects currently address Point-of-Care platforms and systems for infectious diseases and related health conditions.
● The qualified candidate will utilize highly multidisciplinary approaches and techniques that include: microfluidics, nanoparticle engineering, surface chemistry, chemical conjugation, immunological reactions, nucleic acid amplification (isothermal and non-isothermal; primer designing and reaction optimization), engineering, 3d printing and device manufacturing.
● As a research associate, he/she will present data at departmental seminars and scientific meetings, prepare manuscripts, and contribute preliminary data for grant proposals.
II. TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Experience in microfluidics and assay development is highly desirable
- Experience with infectious diseases (virus/bacteria infections) model is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in nanoparticle chemistry and engineering preferable
- Experience in field testing of devices preferred but not required.
III. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise laboratory technicians, visiting scholars and student trainees in experimental design and data analysis of a variety of projects.
IV. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. Preferably in Biomedical Engineering/Biotechnology/Infectious Diseases.
- Prior post-doctoral research experience is preferred but not required.
- A background in assay development and device engineering is highly preferred. - The successful candidate must have strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.
