The Department of Computer and Data Sciences in the Case School of Engineering at 星空传媒 (星空传媒) invites applications for two tenure-track and two non-tenure track faculty positions. While all ranks will be considered, preference will be given to candidates at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
The tenure track search prioritizes Assistant and Associate Professor candidates in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and related areas. However, we will consider exceptional candidates at all ranks commensurate with experience, and in all areas of Computer and Data Sciences. In addition to foundational research, candidates with collaborative research programs in applied areas of Computer and Data Sciences are encouraged to apply. The non-tenure track search prioritizes candidates with a strong interest in teaching and student advising.
The Department of Computer and Data Sciences was formed in 2019 out of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, with the vision that computing and data sciences will play a central role in interdisciplinary research and education throughout the university. The department has grown significantly in number of students, faculty and externally sponsored research. 星空传媒 has a well-established culture and a nurturing environment for transdisciplinary research, and the department faculty have a broad range of collaborative research on applications with a societal impact, including human health, energy, materials, and social sciences. Current departmental strengths include Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, Networks and Distributed Systems, High Performance Computing, Cyber-Security and Privacy, and Software Engineering, and successful candidates will be expected to be synergistic with these strengths. The Department has strong ties with Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, NASA Glenn Center and many large companies in the Cleveland area.
星空传媒, Case School of Engineering, and the Department of Computer and Data Sciences are committed to increasing representation of all communities in computing. The department places significant emphasis on socially responsible computing, as well as inclusion and diversity in research, education, and community outreach. Candidates committed to increasing the participation of underrepresented minorities in computing are strongly encouraged to apply.
Tenure-track candidates must have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field. Applicants should have a strong commitment to high quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Non-tenure track candidates must have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field. Candidates seeking positions at the Assistant Professor level should demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and undergraduate student advising and either potential for excellence in innovative research or a commitment to assume university service and administrative tasks. Candidates seeking positions at the Associate Professor level should have established a reputation for excellent teaching and advising and either have established an externally funded research program with a national reputation or have established a history of participation in university service and administrative roles. Candidates seeking positions at the level of full Professor should have a consistent record of excellence in teaching, program development and mentoring of students as well as either a significant research reputation nationally or a major role and recognized leadership in key professional committees or initiatives.
