The English Department at 星空传媒 (星空传媒) invites applications for one or more full-time lecturer positions in our Writing Program, which primarily serves the 星空传媒 writing-intensive general education curriculum (see: /artsci/writing/academics). We seek colleagues who champion an inclusive, diverse, and transformative university and who are excited to join our energetic and collegial program. Our first-year and advanced writing seminars cover a range of topics and emphasize intellectual inquiry, critical thinking, and academic writing. The Writing Program supports a broad community of learners, including first-generation college students, students from minoritized groups, individuals with learning and other differences, and multilingual speakers and writers.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have expertise in teaching writing in the context of social science, engineering, healthcare and/or scientific disciplines. Lecturers鈥 responsibilities will include designing and leading first-year Academic Inquiry Seminars and consulting with the campus community via the Writing Resource Center. Responsibilities may also include designing and leading other writing-intensive seminars, creative writing workshops, professional/technical or scientific communication courses, and/or other undergraduate courses. Opportunities for writing program administrative and assessment activities are also available and are compensated.
Minimum Qualifications: An earned PhD or terminal professional degree in a field relevant to the program's mission is required at the start of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications: Coursework and/or experience teaching writing at the college level to students from diverse educational backgrounds, including multilingual writers, is preferred. Evidence of creative, scholarly, clinical and/or industry experience in a related field is also welcome.
Responsibilities & Duties: Teaching load is the equivalent of six courses over the academic year (does not include summer), which may include a mix of classroom teaching, Writing Resource Center consulting and programming, and other activities. Initial appointment is for one academic year, beginning August 2025; this position is eligible for annual reappointment.
