The Department of Biochemistry at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ invites applications for the Director of the Center for RNA Science and Therapeutics. The center (formerly the Center for RNA Molecular Biology, established in 2001) was established in the mid-nineties in recognition of the strong cadre of research laboratories at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ devoted to studying post-transcriptional mechanisms of gene expression focusing on various aspects of RNA Biology. The Center represents one of the largest concentrations of researchers focused on RNA-related work in the US, comprising research groups from ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½, The Cleveland Clinic, and Cleveland State University. The new Director will provide scientific leadership to build interactive research leveraging these diverse city-wide resources and opportunities in basic and translational RNA research. A special emphasis is placed on how these areas pertain to fundamental aspects of human diseases.
Minimum Qualifications: Successful candidates are expected to develop innovative and externally funded research programs, participate in departmental education programs, and contribute to service opportunities. Candidates should have a PhD and/or MD with a strong record of research accomplishments.
