The Department of Design and Innovation at the Weatherhead School of Management, 星空传媒, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Advanced Assistant Professor level, beginning as early as July 2025.
This position is part of a larger strategic cluster hire in AI and the Future of Work, which includes positions across Accounting, Economics, and Information Systems. Candidates must hold a PhD in Management (Information Systems) or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment. We seek ambitious, entrepreneurial scholars whose research explores the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence on the future of work and organizing. We prefer candidates with a focus on areas such as job design, organizational chance, occupational changes, labor market transformations, industry disruptions, and broader socio-economic implications of AI adoption across industry sectors and society. Candidates with a demonstrated interested in the deployment and impact of AI in manufacturing, B2B business, and healthcare are particularly welcome. The ideal candidates are expected to have a strong social and/or economic theoretical foundation combined with a strong computational background and education. Candidates with demonstrable competence in computational research using diverse and large qualitative and quantitative data sets are preferred. A focus on, and potential for, high-impact scholarly contributions is a key consideration for the appointment. The candidate is expected to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team of scholars within the department, across the Weatherhead school of Management and across the university.
Our current collaboration networks include scholars from computer science, cognitive science, medical disciplines, and social science. The hire is expected to apply and collaborate within large funded, research programs in the university. The hire will also have ample opportunities to collaborate with industry partners, particularly through the school-wide research center xLab, which focuses on digital innovations. Eligible candidates must have experience teaching in one or more of the areas mentioned above at the undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and/or executive levels. Main teaching opportunities include core technology courses in undergraduate major in Business Information Technologies (BIT), elective courses in AI and design in MBA on Product Management. We value that candidates demonstrate the use of innovative approaches to pedagogy and encourage faculty to develop purposeful, professional relationships with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
